NCC is a unique infrastructure of prospective cohort studies in the Netherlands with a focus on collection, harmonization and pooling of extensive data to address multimorbidity. Through NCC researchers will have access to a diversity of data concerning mental health, physical health, social networks, stress, life style, environment, socio-demographic and economic factors. We aim to include all population-based and population-representative Dutch cohort studies that provide advanced longitudinal clinical phenotyping and biomedical data for research into the determinants of multimorbidity. NCC brings data and researchers together to perform excellent research into unraveling the complex interplay between biological mechanisms, lifestyle, behavioral, socio-economic and environmental factors. Linkage with CBS-data, PALGA, NKR and other registries will even further strengthen the possibilities for excellent multidisciplinary research

EPIC-NL (www.epicnl.eu) is een fusie van de Prospect-EPIC-cohort (gecoördineerd door het Julius Centrum) en de Morgen-EPIC-cohort (gecoördineerd door het RIVM, Bilthoven). Het is een cohort van ruim 40.000 mannen en vrouwen uit Amsterdam, Doetinchem, Maastricht en Utrecht en omgeving, die ten tijde van de werving in de periode 1993-1997 tussen 20 en 70 jaar oud waren.
Het doel van de studie is om de relatie tussen voeding en kanker, biomarkers en andere chronische ziekten te evalueren. De deelnemers vulden vragenlijsten in over levensstijl en medische aspecten, alsmede uitgebreide voedselfrequentievragenlijsten. Van alle deelnemers werden bloedmonsters genomen, die na fractionering op -196°C werden opgeslagen.
